Berlin Marathon 2023: Eliud Kipchoge claims fifth race win as Tigist Assefa smashes women’s world record

Eliud Kipchoge won the Berlin Marathon for the fifth time on September 24th. He finished the race in 2 hours, 2 minutes, and 42 seconds. He was ahead of everyone else and won. Tigist Assefa, in the women’s race, broke the world record by more than 2 minutes.In the men’s race, Kipchoge started fast with some other runners. They were ahead of the rest of the runners. But as the race went on, they couldn’t keep up with the world record pace. Kipchoge was on his own for the last 10 kilometers.

In the women’s race, Tigist Assefa and Workenesh Edesa were leading after 15 kilometers. Assefa ran really fast and reached the halfway point faster than the previous world record. She finished the race in 2 hours, 11 minutes, and 53 seconds, breaking the world record by more than 2 minutes.

Kipchoge said he wanted to break the world record, but it didn’t happen this time. Assefa was surprised that she broke the record by such a big margin.
